The gun case was known as a leg-of-mutton or lamb's leg Gun case. They were designed for people living in the city To efficiently carry their breakdown guns on a train for a day of hunting in the country. They were very well made but the first thing to deteriorate is the liner on the inside.

The shotgun appears to be a V grade Parker, number 2 frame made in 1901.
The leg of mutton case may be at the same time period, but was not produced by Parker.
