Norma 7X64 Ammo OK to shoot in a 280 Reminton????

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got a box of this ammo 7 X 64, 150 grains[9.7 grams] Soft Point, semi pointed boattail and was told you can shoot it in a 280 Remington, is this correct?

So all the shooter in the know how, I need some feed basck from you on this, is this correct?

I did a little research and found this information, "you can shoot 7x64's in a 280 but not 280's in a 7x64. that means the 280 is also a 7x64 but the 7x64 is only itself."

    This came from http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...topics/3037398/7mm_Brenneke_vs_280_Remington_

    Thanks in Advance :clock:

Not much help from me Bob. However...........would like to add.......what type of 280Rem action(what gun) do you have ?? Some of the older 280's are great guns and like shooting some of the older MilSpec 30-'06 ammo in the newer civilian guns.....first thought would be...why would you ??? Got tons of 7X64 laying around ?? Just to give it a try ?? Do you normally reload for your 280 ??

Don't hurt your 280Rem for one box of 7X64. --- SAWMAN

I see references to the two being ballistic twins. I see nothing about them being physically interchangeable. The 7X64 bullet is .001" larger in diameter and loaded to higher pressures. Like Sawman said, why risk damaging your rifle (or taking a rifle bolt through the head) for one box of ammo?
