Looking for ideas of some fast growing shrubs or plants I can plant along a property line. Land next to us sold and looks like they are gonna clear cut it...ugh. Kinda thinking about bamboo but not sure.

Bamboo can get way out of hand. You might consider the Japanese Yew. They get tall and wide, are easy to manage, can be shaped (ala Disney world)

Bamboo is fast growing. It’s a mistake to plant it. It will send out runners.

Keep in mind fast growing usually means weak wood.

From what I have read there is clumping and running bamboo. We had elaeagnus for a while in our backyard. If left alone it can grow something like 20 foot in all directions.

Thanks. I’ll start looking into some of those. Something that grows over six feet tall should do

Loquats are evergreen, fast grower, and nice looking trees with fruit. I can set you up with some seedlings if you want. I am in Pace, FL
I also have non spreading ornamental bamboo that grows in a circle. You welcome to dig up some of that.

The loquats will make a small tree, but can be planted closed together and pruned to form a view blocking wall.

If you really want to color something green, go get yourself some kudzu vines! It's called "the vine that ate the South" for good reason

Good to know we won't starve when the trucks stop rolling. We'll just all be vegetarian

Livestock will wipe it fast. It was at one time planted for livestock, but if you let it go, then in florida it is a disaster.

Does anyone know of any patches locally?
    Makes a nice house plant

What are the dimensions that you are trying to cover? Linear foot? Are we talking a 1/4 acre lot or do you have acres to work with. I would suggest a few layers if you have room. For example long leaf pines for height with a second layer of wax myrtles and a third layer of saw palmettos. This could eat up 15’ of your property when it matures but it would be dense and wouldn’t look as silly as a straight hedge.
