Picked this up a few days ago and trying to decide if I should keep it as-is or mod it. I was told it's a tactical but it's not marked as such on the receiver. The only thing I may add is a side saddle because only having 6+1 doesn't really do it for me.

I was thinking about getting the Magpul furniture kit, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it.

run it as is! and run the crap outta it! while I DO like the magpul fore end, I think the only thing the stock does is raise the receiver more in-line with your eyes once you establish your cheek weld. if you have no problems with the length-of-pull and the height of the receiver, keep the rear stock and spend that money on more ammo!

Great choice of a shotty! I have mine and like it a lot. The only issue I had with the factory furniture is that the butt stuck was a little long for me, so it felt like i had to reach a little more than what's comfortable. But the 870 is a proven work machine!

Yeah, it feels great for me as is. I just cant justify spending $150 or more on parts that will really not change much about it.

If you like the stock as it is, you could just throw a limb saver pad on the back of it.. I debated on changing the forend for a bit, but put the longer one on and love it. It was a little lighter too.
