Picked up an o/u 410 hatfield. Using #6 federal green and full choke. Had the lower barrel loaded with hornady critical defense 410 ( .41 ftx bullet and 2 buck) and mod choke (jic deer)
Worked along tree line on plot to get closer. Was able to get about a 30 yard upshot. Never figured I'd get that close as the other crows boogied. Had to move a bit for a clear shot. Lined up the fiber optic front bead and BOOM!
    Very pleased.

One of my favorite off-season activities is calling crow.

Get yourself a cheap electronic caller with crow sounds, if you don't already have one, and have a blast. Crow, for being a pretty smart bird, are pretty dumb when it comes to responding to crow calls.

Educate me on the purpose of killing crows?

IMO they are the thugs of the bird world. It's no secret, they are quite aggressive and will kill small birds for no real reason.

Besides... it's a lot of fun.

    Dang!
    Good shootin Reb!

All I ever killed with my .410’s is carpenter bees when they take a second to hover.
    BOOM!
Thanks! Haven't had time to pattern, that was my 1st round thru it. ( deer season)
Perfect for woods walking. Wish the barrel was 16 inches or so though. Lightweight and can carry several rounds on the stock sock.
Always heard this was an experts gun because of the lighter loads and smaller pattern. Would like to use my stevens double in 12ga but it's like a cinder block.

Oops, I goofed. Put the dead crow on my plot well away from the feeder. Got in quad and all hell broke loose. Damm crows are swarming and raising hell. Not spending 308 shells on crows.

First crow I killed was with my grandpa’s double barrel 16 ga when I was 9 years old, I still have that gun, granny gave it to me when he passed in 1970 or 71.
Still occasionally shoot crows today but with a 12 ga pump. Have shot a many of them in my lifetime.

Didn't tear him up too bad.
What's best on them, Dale's Sauce or Frank's Red Hot? :)

We shoot them on my family’s pecan orchard in GA.

Crows love nuts and are damaging to the crop.

They’re smart birds. They’ll actually take a nut, fly up high above a paved road and drop it to crack the shell.

My crows must be spoiled - I have to shell the pecans for them. With 35 pecan trees on my place, seems like I'd see more crows.

In my case, them d@mn crows scratch up my seed when I plant plots or my garden, they are thieves. But lots of fun to call em up with a mouth call and sling some lead at them. They’re smart cookies all right, they catch on mighty quick to dodge an ambush. They’ll also alert other wildlife when they see you in the woods a lot like a squirrel will do.
