Monstrom 3X Prism sight failure from recoil, with pics

I sure thought that I read somewhere on the net that the Monstrum S330P 3X Prism sight had been tested up to 50bmg, but after 6 shots with the AR15 Beowulf the international prism and/or the corners of the glass cracked and shards went everywhere inside the scope. I loved the scope before the failure, it was very clear and has a nice rectical design, they are sending a replacement but I think I'll save it for something else.

I bought a Vortex Crossfire II for mine and could not be happier. I went with the 1-4 x24 version with out illuminated center dot. Figured less likely to fail. Had to blue loctite my hand guard,scope mount and forearm so far.

You guys with the 50Beowulf's ..... stop trashin' them optics. Buy and install a AA brand muzzle brake. I shot about 15rds thru my gun before I installed the brake. Makes a ton of difference. After install my guns recoil impulse was like a dove/quail 20ga. More of a semi-soft push with no snap to it. --- SAWMAN
