Any idea what one is worth? What's special about it? I have a guy wanting to swap me one. It looks to be in great shape. I'm having trouble getting a picture to upload but I will keep trying.

The guy says it was made in '71, and from what I've seen on the web it's characteristics seem to match.

I wish I had known that they were only made with the crossbolt safety. I saw one at the Milton gunshow last year at a good price but passed on it because it had the crossbolt safety.
Didn't they also make one similar without the crossbolt safety or am I confusing it with the Marlin 39 in the straight stock version ?
So, if this guy's is made in 1971, is it not a Texan since according to the above info they were only made 1984 - 1987 ?
Z, does it have the straight stock and short barrel ?

The earlier model 1971-19xx is a 336T. The TS has the safety.

And he feels that it is worth $500. I know I can't seem to find a 336w for under $300

You can find the 336's for 225-250$ all day in pawn shops in Alabama. The early Texan in my collection think I paid 375$ for in 2011.
