    Just get a Ruger Charger.

Threaded barrel for a can? Check.
    Not expensive? Check.
    Runs amd isn't a jam-o-matic? Check
Reliable and affordable 20rd+ mags? Check.

    Bingo, bingo, and BINGO!

The Charger is the recent purchase that most exceeded my expectations. Beats any of the several (all "Standard") 10/22s I've had over the years in the accuracy department.

Fought my Ruger Precision .22 bolt action for over a year trying to get it dialed in; had the Charger almost matching it in 45 minutes. Next time I bust it out, I'll probably be going for 200 yds. with it (w/pistol scope, green laser, and light... already got rid of the hokey factory bipod : )

15 shots @ 40 yds/100 yd zero (aiming at the bottom dot, top dot is 1-inch, 1 of the first 5 [circled] was dead-center)

Another few bucks for a takdown
Yeah... I'm not sold on the takedowns. The 10/22 barrel attachment method is questionable enough on the one-piecers, and is probably why none of the standard 10/22 rifles I had could match the (one piece) Charger in the accuracy department: less stress on the joint due to the short barrel :)

Considering its name, have you already looked at the POF Rebel?

Still need to research the reliability side of things, but with a suppressor, that seems to help.

Maybe chop the barrel down to 4” threaded, and it’ll make most ammo go subsonic.
I have a rebel for the fact of 10/22 mag compatibility. It's light and it's fun, but it's a toy. You'll have a hang up now and then, even suppressed. Will still make you smile. It likes 10rd factory mags the best.

Have the 15-22P 8 inch, runs everything. Thought about getting a 4 inch barrel for fun. The mags are perfection.

For the Charger, it is a waste of time. The non-takedown model is pretty much a TEC-22 that isn't crap.

Look at the layout of a TEC-22.

    Here's a non-takedown Charger.

And the best part, it isn't expensive, it runs, and it is compact as is. The locking system for the takedowns are somewhat finicky on the accuracy department.

A standard 10/22 already has an easy to swap out barrel design.

Amazing aftermarket support and a great supply of Ruger made mags too that are bombproof reliable.

Sounds like the consensus is a Ruger Charger with one of these (forearm modification probably necessary):

    Plus one of these:

Plus one of these (when back in-stock):

Are the drum mags reliable? I've always steered clear of any, regardless of make or model.

Those GSG 110’s seem to have much better track records, as long as there isn’t a figment issue with the stock/magwell in the first place. Haven’t had access to a free range to see if it can be “oversped”, though.
