Killed my first turkey of the year last week up in Clay County AL. It weighed 20lb, 9 7/8" beard, and 1 inch spurs. Only gobbled 3 times for me, but strutted and drummed the whole way in for me. It was probably a 2 year old bird, but wasnt the dominant bird, as the big tom had 11 hens with him still when I shot this one. Used a 12g Browning Humpback shotgun with red dot.

Yeah I never use a blind when hunting turkeys. Got to get up and move on them too much sometimes to worry with a blind. Just get some GOOD camo from head to toe and learn to be super quiet and still. lol These Easterns are really hard to kill. Would like to go further out west to try hunting those "dumb" turkeys; Merriams and Rio Grands. I would love to go down around Orlando or further and try my luck with those long legged Osceola turkeys.

Yeah, Ive heard them called that too. They are a unique bird though and thats what I like about them. They are just as sharp as the Easterns are.
