My ole lady has had a permit fer about a year and a half, and still hasn't carried! I won't let her until she wants to learn to shoot it. Then again she is a principal and can't carry on school grounds so it's rather useless fer her to have a permit cause any other time she is w/ me....

Hopefully they will start letting administrators start carrying in the near future, then she will go through some "official" training.....

I have had my Shield for about 6 months and put a little over 600 rounds throw it, plus about a box of 50 124gr gold dots. Not a single hiccup. I can't just buy a gun or pistol without shooting it. Usually when I go to buy a new firearm (handgun, pistol, eventually AR).Now bolt actions to expensive to buy that much ammo. I make sure I have enough money to buy 500rds online to spend a day at the range breaking it in. Just like my new 1911 I bought, I just bought 500rds of 230gr ball ammo. I'm going to run every last one of them through it to.

That's why my Springfield Micro 45 stays in the box...when you have to run a hundred plus rounds through it just to break it in that's bullshit. My theory is if you have to work on it to make shoot right it's not worth a shit. Now...my micro desert eagle a real gun not a plastic piece of shit....I new after 20 rounds it would go bang...not like the Springfield bang click piece of shit. If my MDE goes click oh well break open a can of whip ass if all fails!!!! I wonder if they would let me use it in a IDPA match probably would surprise a lot of people how well it shoots....just kidding!!!!!

I field strip, clean and lube my new guns, or new to me guns, before the first range trip and don't have a set number of rounds either.

With my current Shield, I ran 4 mags of target ammo through it the first outing, and then a mag full of defense ammo. I've run it a few more times since then, and I will usually shoot the ammo that I am carrying in it, then reload it a few more times and run some target ammo through it. So that means that I have ~100 rounds through it at this point, no failures and I am comfortable with that.

Just in case, my man purse holds my 226 and 3 extra mags, I have thousands of rounds through it, without any failures that weren't ammo related.

I like it a lot, same as the other one, minus the safety that I didn't want to have to think about.

A couple minor gripes, there is small area on serrations on the left side of the slide, a bump, looks like the result of the tool not cutting smoothly or something that was rusting after the first week of carry. I'm talking about something the size of the head of a pin, but there none the less, I oiled the leather portion of my hybrid holster thoroughly and cleaned up that area on the gun and gave it a liberal coating of oil, and it hasn't returned.

The other thing is, I noticed that my sweating on the mag release is causing it to rust internally as well, I cleaned it up real good and oiled it up again too. I don't want to have to clean this thing daily, but then again this is the hottest time of the year and I am not always in an air conditioned office... May try some grease on the mag release parts if I notice it coming back again.

In spite of those minor issues, I still choose to carry it every day over the half dozen other carry guns that I have, it just carries really well for me.

Not to steal the thread but have y'all had problems with the shield take down lever? Mine can spin all the way around and I don't even have to lock my slide back to take it down. I can just clear it, then pull the take down lever down and pull the trigger and the slide comes off. I keep forgetting to call Smith&Wesson to see if this is problem but thought I would post it on here to see if y'all had any problems with it.

Nope never had that problem and I am on my 4th Shield. Only "problem" I have is the ejector wiggles a bit. Called S&W but they told me it was normal. My wifes Shield has a solid ejector and I dont recall my other 2 doing it, how bout you guys?

That sounds like a problem, the way the frame is molded keeps mine from turning more than 90 degrees downward.

My ejector's got some wiggle to it.
