Because an election is an illusion of choice over two cheeks of the same ass. Freedom comes from self determination, not allowance. Unfortunately the common man is brainwashed into a system of disempowerment with a simple ballot.

Illusion is appropriate/correct. Pacifier, IMO. Who/what is it that decides who can even become a "candidate" for "election?" I type that to point out there is not one in any office, or aspiring to office, IMO, that got there on their own ability/merit and is not in some way controlled/manipulated/subject to some benefactor/donor. Corruption abounds, and corruption that benefits/profits will continue be accepted/overlooked by those that benefit/profit. The rest of us can just shut up and color....

The late George Carlin called it years ago, and pointed out again, and again, in acts and interviews that our "elected" government had steadily become nothing more than a buffer and sounding board purposely placed between us and those really in charge, by those really in charge. The "vote" is the pacifier that enables the powerless to console himself with the belief he has a "say" in who he is governed by. I understand a lot of people didn't/don't like Carlin, IMO, because he hurt feelings and/or caused people to question their beliefs. Doesn't mean he was, or is, wrong...
