Okay, you probably won't be out and about without what you consider adequate ammo. However, there are a bunch of firearms that are not bayonet compatible due to muzzle size or lack of a bayonet lug. This may provide a solution. I'd really like to see a video on how much use/abuse the mount can handle. I don't put this in the same category as some of the obsurd tiny novelty mounts we've laughed at, unless it fails miserably in "Field Testing". There's the question of how well the rail/forend is supported too.

The only make and model I've got that I'm worried about running out of ammo prematurely with, and it's got the pointy end firmly bolted on

I am in the market for a Romanian AK bayonet with a leather frog and a rubber insulator. And/or an East German black AK bayonet with the full length black polymer insulator. Now, if Giselle would make an adapter for mounting AK bayonets on an SKS lug, I just might be interested

Difference is Jpyritz, Rebel and I were trained killers with bayonets at an early age and feel quite comfortable with it
Oh I’m completely comfortable with my bayonet also. Infantry training at benning is still a 4 day course.

I am not too impressed with the photo. Just seeing a saw tooth blade is enough to turn me off.

It needs a direct attachment to see the barrel with some sort of clamp or ring.
If you do have saw teeth the blade can get stuck. On the one below the teeth are angled to make withdrawal of the blade easier

This is what a bayonet is supposed to be capable of.
