I tried one of those do it yourself magnesium parkerizing finishes and it seemed to have turned out ok. I'd like to redo the barrel once I make a larger barrel vat. The technique I used included magnesium from a d cell battery, distilled water, Klein strip phosphoric acid prep, and steel wool heated to a boil.
Has anybody else tried this process before and how was your results?
