Plum as I tell from the picture. See the horizontal lines in the bark. Only other tree in our areas is a black cherry that has those. The fruit on those are very small

They are about as big as my thumbnail and don't appear to be getting any bigger. Some are round some are oval. Green, red and black.

Sloe plum

Kinda tart to eat but Wildlife eats them. Used in herbal medicines. Indians ate or used them. Sometimes if a thicket exists Indian settlement nearby.
