Haven’t seen any cool old milsurps lately, so I thought I’d post one up!
This is a M1916 Spanish Mauser that has definitely seen some history! It was originally a 1893 Mauser, made in Germany by DWM (Ludwig Lowe) for the Spanish military. It was later converted by Spain into a M1916 short rifle. This included shortening the barrel, turned down bolt, modified receiver, and side sling mounts. Many were converted from 7mm to 8mm and later to .308.
This particular model is still in the original 7mm caliber. The stock and some other parts were refinished at some point in time, but has nice grain and has not been cut down or sporterized. The refinishing might be original from the m1916 conversion, or later. The barrel has been shortened (as is correct for a m1916) but the muzzle is not crowned. It appears to be complete other than the sights, top handguard, and cleaning rod.
Priced to sell at $250 but would rather trade for a nice quality red dot scope.
