Hope this is posted in the right area. It's been thirty years since I shot a bow. Sold mine a long time ago. Looking at the new bows, I see technology has jumped over the moon again and don't know where to start, but I won't be hunting with it at first, but would like to be able to do so, should I decide. Price range would be $250 to $450. Cams are so different, sights are somewhat different. Target shooting would be my main interest and have something more quiet than a firearm should it be needed. Don't even know what poundage or length of pull I need. Any suggestions?

Head to a shop and play around with some. That's my suggestion. Then buy a used setup that's a year or two old. Bow shooters have wide ranges of opinions. Worse than gun shooters I think. So you'll get all kinds of advice. But I shoot a Bear brand bow for a bang for your buck type deal. Not the fastest or the quietest. But at the price point, it kills deer.

I agree that you should head to a shop and see what options you have. Everyone's different and since you're just starting back who knows what you could find. I shoot a Diamond Archery Infinite Edge bow and I haven't hunted with it yet, hopefully this year I can but I've seen it do some damage. Good thing about it is it has a wide range of poundage and draw length so you could start off light then work your way up. Hope you find one that works for you though!

Come by Mikes this week. We are having our archery sale. Lots of bows to choose from and test.
