Question ---> Do 3 gun shooters typically use a 20",.936"/.750" bbl in stainless ?? Seems like it would be a little bbl heavy to me. Never done the 3 gun thing so just wondering. --- SAWMAN

    Awsome 20" Krieger

Here is the skinny talked to smith in Knoxville that bult it in 1988, the gentleman I got it from still had paperwork on it. COLT A2 National Match reciever, Started as Krieger #11 1:7 Stainless blank. Machined 1.250 under handguard for 12", .750 gas block(F(0 withR1)7, .725 at muzzle. Threaded and 11 degree crown, A2 birdcage. Rifle length gas system,Triangle hanguard cap (tac welded to barrel and gas block)? Barrel is is not drilled for gas block pins, has set screw and epoxy. Weight is 6.5 lbs without BCG,handle and handguards. This upper was setup for benchrest shooting by his son who was killed in Iraq in 1991 been sitting in safe since, guess I will have to give it a test run. Barrel was over $400, M4 Barrel extension$25,tube $10, Delta ring $15, Barrel nut (SS) $20 and labor was $475.

    barrel

I used a 20in heavy Krig. 1/8 in the last two 3 gun at Fort Benning , we were shooting out a over 400 yards , the longer barrel same to be a little better at the long range, the people with the car. barrel did a little better on the close part, most are going to a mid range 18 in. as a compromise, that is what I have just fix up to try. And I have not seen a colt H/Bar come with a SS barrel only on a they varmint model and it came with a free F/h/G. Have never seen a F/S welded on a 20in barrel.Don't know of any reason to do it other the just because you would want to. JUst my 25 cents jj

Great info there. Just too damed bad you could not take it over and clip some rag heads with it first. Great find. With the Kreiger bbl....could be/should be a real shooter with the 69,75,77,80gr bullets. ---SAWMAN

Not for close engagements, I'd rather take a 14.5 pinned lightweight.

Most 3 gunners that I have shot with and against, use 18 to 20 inch barrels. I agree with JJ that they are easy to hold steady when you have been running and don't give up much when house clearing, or shooting thru a port 4 inches off the ground.
