I know the differences between the Colt 6940 and 6920 rifles but what are the differences in the lowers? I came across some agency trade-in complete 6940 lowers for $550 with LE serial numbers that I'm interested in.
No real functional difference; markings may be different depending when each was produced, but that should be it (assuming LE Agency didn't do anything to them while in service).
Differences between the 6920 and 6940 lowers should be non existent, the only difference that I can think of is that 6940 lowers could be more valuable to collectors, since I’m assuming that they are not as common. The Colt brand commands a premium anyways, especially for pre-cz or pre-2014. The LE prefix’s also usually have a price premium.
Only added markings I can see is someone drew lines for fire and safe in white paint on the right hand side. It has a QR code next to Colt Defense and no restriction roll mark so I'm guessing the less desirable later model.
I think I'm going to pass. The only reason I was interested in this is I have a cage code barrel, upper, charge handle, C marked BCG, sitting on a LMT Defender lower. That Colt is $559 and with $30 shipping and almost $50 in Georgia sales tax plus transfer fee it's so $650 for a well used lower. For that kind of money I'll stick with what I have and spend a little more and get a MARS L for this other project I'm working on.
If you have a Cage code 3S679 FN barrel I'll pay top dollar. If you know someone that has that barrel and you connect me I'll pay a $50 finders fee.
If any of you are interested the Colts are at Clyde's Armory.
