If China takes Taiwan, that would give them 3/4 of the world's semi-conductor manufacturing. That means they could cripple any country they want by denying them the heart of many electronic devices. We live in a digital age, where everything we have militarily and in the civilian world is dependent upon semiconductors to work or be made.

@Raven those stats are amazing! During the Cold War we had more than 250 Fighters just in Central Europe! When I was in Germany during the early 80's there were more US tanks and armored units there than we currently have worldwide! Thank you Ronald Reagan!

I don't know about the other services, but I do know that under the Obummer administration like 70% of Marine Corps combat aircraft were grounded. China gaining superiority over America has been a long time coming.

Nevermind all the base closures... or the fact that the largest navy on earth (China's navy) now owns some of our former Naval Air Stations on US soil. The one I had personal experience with China buying out is the industrial park formerly known as NAS Brunswick, Maine (where they still hold Blue Angel airshows, too, by the way... a fully functional naval air station). I helped build them their own off grid biodiesel power plant, AFTER they were closed

During the Carter administration our combat readiness was seriously compromised! We had at least 50% of our squadron aircraft that were not airworthy due to no $$$ for spare parts. The maintenance folks spent most of their time swapping parts out from "hangar queens" to ones on the flightline. Most aircrews were lucky to get their minimum 4 hrs flight time to maintain flight pay.

That alone was impeachable. If not outright criminal abandonment, manslaughter, negligence, supporting and funding terrorism etc. And it was all in support of China. The power vacuum we left behind will be filled by China. China will be traded all of our military surplus too as Afghanistan starves, trying to uphold it's quality of life that American wartime economy dollars have afforded them. War is a racket. The Taliban's new super army absolutely needs to ally with China and go on the attack to bring in money to continue growing and feed their families and economy
