The newer Lodge models are OK...but if you can find an older Griswold they are MUCH better! You will probably pay more for it but it is definitely worth it! I have seen some for sale on local FB Marketplace. Good luck!
NEVER buy (or use) made in China cast iron! They use lead in the smelting and casting process. Think lead poisoning through your food! Another very good reason to buy made in USA!
*Lodge, Griswold, WagnerWare, and Birmingham Stove Company are all 100% made in USA. (Only Lodge is still in business.)
BTW, the older Lodge will be not say Lodge it will be marked SK- then the size number.
Also any cast iron pans that have a raised ridge on the bottom (called smoke ring) was manufactured prior to WWII when they were used on wood and coal cook stoves.
