Wow. Alot of things going on in that case just by looking at this article. Gofundme even not allowing defense money to be donated. You'd think the benefit of the doubt would be played here especially since one party was there illegally and clearly up to no good. Clearly the illegals he was with would have taken any guns or drugs the guy was carrying and not leave them at the scene too.
Unfortunately this is a good case of why you never use "warning shots". Those in themselves are twisted later into you being an aggressor. Hopefully the guy gets thru this ok. This is getting way out of hand fast

The rancher should be given a damn medal and released with profuse public apologies.
The SOB jdge should be fired and investigated for connections to the cartel.

“Judge Emilio Velasquez has not granted Kelly’s request for a reduction of his $1 million bond despite the rancher pleading that his wife was left alone on their property and unable to attend to their livestock. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 22 at Nogales Justice Court.”

That rancher was upfront and cooperative with every agency. He tried to spare the lives of those armed invaders. He reported a dead human body on his property. He should be the LAST person pursued as a criminal.

    Yet here we are.

FJB. If that worthless puppet-in-Chief could do his job, we wouldn’t be in this position. If that senile SOB had a spine, he’d make a few calls and public comments and help arrange for that rancher to go home and take care of his wife and livestock and property.
But nah. He’s too preoccupied campaigning in a vacuum.

If this was a movie, I’d be rooting for a local group to go release their rancher neighbor from jail and escort him back to his ranch, then hang out as on-site security and ranch-hands for awhile.

There is only ONE REASON his bail is $1 million: He (POTENTIALLY) shot an illegal alien. Now think about that...

I don't think they even have a ballistics report yet...

I was living on the edge of town in Tucson when the drug mules shot a rancher off his four wheeler when he was out checking fences because they kept cutting them (2008ish). I had just got out of the Military and I was taking firearms courses at the local gun store. There was a woman there, ranch owner, husband had died and she was alone. She was about 65-70. Was learning to shoot because illegals were coming through the property every night cutting the water hoses trying to get in her garage. She was terrified, she had went through 2 different trained German Shepards but the rattle snakes killed them both. She didn’t want to leave it was her lates husbands legacy having that ranch and she had no support and the local government had abandon her. What do you do? Out there alone dealing with very real issues and live threatening danger. These people are upset, their sovereign rights are being walked over and then if they stand up for themselves they are prosecuted. The hell with that, this needs to end. This administration is horse shit, was the same problem when Obama was in but not at this scale. The border needs secured and the American citizens along that border need protected in the mean time. This is a failure to the local government in AZ. They should be embarrassed

Anyone that doesn’t understand the border situation needs to go down there and be around it. It’s a mess, and it’s dangerous. Easy for judgement from the northern liberal cities. I have lived in Phoenix and Tucson it’s obvious to the people that have experience it and educated themselves on it. You look at Tucson a failing broke city with the population of 1 million (2008) with an estimated 2-3 million illegals living there. So you have 2 times the people using the public transit system then that are paying taxes to support it. This is pushing to cities farther and farther north, it’s breaking the hospitals the cities, the taxes are being raised for tax payers and they don’t get any of the benefits and the big government loves it forcing us out of a republic taking away capitalism and forcing socialism.

Where are those people crying about “OMG you aren’t advocating shooting the illegals, are you?”

Here we have a law-abiding land-owner just trying to be left alone. He defended himself, his wife, his animals, and his home and tried to not shoot anyone (even though he was FULLY LEGAL to do so). He notified local LEO. He cooperated fully.

If this is the way a person like that gets treated, then yeah, Shoot-Shovel-Shutup. And the fourth “S”: Sleep like a baby.

And if you move the ones down there crying about it they would be shooting the illegals all the same, liberal gun sales are as high as everyone else’s now. They just don’t think because they haven’t experienced it, very common sense human nature to protect yourself. I don’t see these people adopting and sponsoring families. They preach until it hits their street and their homes.

At the conclusion of the Arbery case, I said that it was a bad precedent for self-defenders, and anyone who doesn't believe so either doesn't know all the facts of the case, or is a leftist.

Arbery was spotted taking a firearm into a high-school basketball game, ran, and fought with the cops. He was caught stealing a huge TV from a Walmart (just keep in mind that less than 10% of theft/burglary cases are ever solved, so multiply that TIMES TEN). Only a week prior, Travis, while on the phone with the cops, had come face-to-face with Arbery trespassing at the home across the street, and told the cops then that Arbery acted as though he may be armed. FIREARMS were being stolen in the neighborhood, including one from Travis' car in his driveway.

On the final day, and while Gregory... who was retired from law enforcement... was standing in the back of the stopped pickup with nothing in his hand but a cell phone, because he was on the phone with the cops, Arbery ran for at least 1/4 mile directly at the stationary Travis, finally head-faking and attacking him from his blind side.

And for that, THREE life-long law-abiding Citizens got LIFE IN PRISON... in GEORGIA.

Don't know what I'd have done in that situation, but I feel like a lot could have been avoided on both sides. Nobody knows what were in any of their minds, intentions, etc. I see both sides of the story and will try to use that information to keep clear of potential confrontations like this one.

No doubt... as I've said, I don't think I would've followed Arbery (but what if I thought he was the one who stole my pistol, and I knew the cops weren't likely to do anything about it? AND he kept coming back?), but that just proves that they're better men than I, just like Rittenhouse. Remember: the only difference between a ghetto... or a cartel playground... and a neighborhood is what the residents are willing to tolerate.

What's the point of the Second Amendment, if you're afraid to go outside your front door armed because criminals are taking over the neighborhood... or country, for that matter, as they are doing at the border? The Second Amendment wasn't written to protect guns, it was written to protect the Nation and its Citizens. Remember: In the McMichael's neighborhood, the cops had been called multiple times re: the burglaries and thefts, up to and including of firearms.

The craziest take I heard was from a big-time "2A advocate" on YouTube who said that, if you think you might end up in a confrontation with a (note: possibly ARMED) criminal, you shouldn't bring your firearm, because the suspect can then claim that they felt threatened, and kill you in "self-defense"... WTF?!?

Who thinks, if the McMichaels were going to follow a suspected firearms thief while on the phone with cops, that this would be a good time for them to "leave their guns at home"?!? Apparently, at least one guy who says "I carry a gun all the time"... but NOT when he thinks he might actually need it?!? And this gets to another point I've been making:

WHY do people always scrutinize every action or technique of a self-defender or victim or law enforcement, e.g., he didn't have the correct hold, his trigger discipline wasn't great, his feet were too close together, he shouldn't have fired that last shot, he shouldn't have fired a warning shot, he should've turned back, he should've run, etc., etc., but rarely get so critical of the actions of the criminals that set it all in motion?

In case you haven't seen, check this out, and note that the important part starts at 6 minutes and 30 seconds. Who was the aggressor? And let's stop criticizing the McMichaels for merely being lawfully armed (i.e., what is the point of the Second Amendment?). Note also that this vid is no longer on YouTube, for whatever reason:
