Probally not a bad add on if you like rails on a handgun, personally I do not, but lots of folks do. Kind of makes a 1911 "which is a timeless beauty" look like a modern style handgun.

On another gun I agree it would be interesting, but on a 1911 it just doesn't do it justice.

Well dang y'all r picky...I wasn't talkin about putting this on a hi-end 1911 like nighthawk, WC, or colt...but for those folks who buy the Academy special for $4-500 I think it would make it a decent nightstand gun with the rail...I forgot everyone here had all the expensive stuff

They make metal rails that can be attached that look better then that thing. Just drill a couple holes.

Novak makes that rail & I am sure you can mail it to them & have them do it. Any Pistol smith worth a crap can do it.

I would just sell the one you have an buy a railed 1911 (costs more though)or use a different gun for home defense.

I'm not real big on rails, but I do like the grip. I had a Hogue contured grip on a 1911 that I owned for a short time. Made it really comfortable and a nice look, at least to me.

Yes, I agree that if you want a 1911 with rails, just buy one. I think you'll end up with a better product. I understand that funding is an issue for everyone, but I think that if you throw your existing one up on here, you'll get a fair price for it in less then a week. I know that I (and many others, I'm sure) am always in the market for another one.

Not a bad price. Seems like it might work for someone who wants to tacticool their 1911.
I would not get it for mine. I have other pistols with rails for that purpose.
