Food grade barrels are hard to find, only thing I would use other than ones that contained bleach. Barnes Feed Store on Palafox had some that contained pickels or peppers but I haven't been by there in a while. Please post if you find some, I need a couple myself.
Plastic barrels (Food grade)
All of our barrels are 100% food grade. They have never been used to store chemicals, unlike the majority of the barrels for sale.
They have many uses like:
1.EMERGENCY DRINGKING WATER STORAGE
2.EMERGENCY FOOD STORAGE
3.RAIN BARREL
4.CONTAINER POT FOR PLANTS
5.COMPOST BARREL
6.FLOATATION/DOCK
7.HORSE TRAINING
8.LIVESTOCK FOOD STORAGE
9.LIVESTOCK WATER STORAGE
Prices
$35 Blue barrels 2 or more $30
$40 Screw off top black and terracotta barrels 2 or more $35
Another thing to consider,,,5 gal buckets...why? Theyre mobile.......once you get a drum full of water, you ain't moving it. so you have to schlep water from it to where you need it. Also, plan on getting either a lid or those donuts for skeeters, they WILL lay eggs in there. A lid is better because it not only keeps out skeeters, but other crud, too. Also, remember, you can grow food stuff in there. -hydroponics
I got mine from Car Wash places. The wash soap and wax additives, etc comes in seperate 55 gallon drums and 30 or 35 gallon drums. They give them to me. Other ppl have made arraingements to pick them up, (so the owners don't have to spend money to discard them), just to wash them out and sell them. But most times, those guys don't come by, and I get them, or you could as well. Just stop and ask.
I just picked up three barrels from the small mower shop outside of Defuniak, 331 south left side. $10-$20 per barrel depending on size. I got 15 gallon that I'll be using as hog roll barrels, 10 bucks a pop.
