They're ok, but Larue is well worth the premium, the lockup isn't quite as smooth when closing and solid when locking. If you can score a deal though, there's no reason to pass up.
Ive got a couple and definitely satisfied. From what I read in a scope's zero repeatability test the ADM and Bobro did better then Larue for return to zero.
Ive had Larue Aimpoint mounts and IMO they werent worth the premium, but we all have different opinions. Until I see something circumstantial though I'll stick with ADM.
The un-latching can be a little more of a pain then the Larue if you have the levers adjusted tight.
Is that considered one of their "low" mounts? I will be be mounting a 1.25-4x20 scope. Will this mount keep it pretty close to the rail? I want it as low as possible.
Only reason I want to go with one of these is because I can get them from sears.com and I have a crap load of thank you pints I can use
They're good to go for sure. If you can use your points, go for it. The elevated base is really designed for long range shooting, but will work just fine at short or intermediate ranges.
Yes, that's what the 20moa part refers to. Long story short, it's tilted up so your turrets don't bottom out, to give you more elevation to shoot further out.
I believe their low mounts have an "L" at the end of their part number. They will put the optical axis about 1.1" above the rail. You may be able to get lower with individual rings (qrw/prw from Leupold) but you may have issue with clearing the objective depending on scope size and on an AR15, individual rings usually end up being far enough apart that you can't get them both on the upper rail (ie one is on the handguard). The built MOA in the base helps with long distance shooting by tilting the scope with the eye piece higher than the objective. Objective clearance will be more of an issue with built in MOA on the low mounts.
On an AR, you're most likely going to need the offset. If you don't have it, the eye piece is going to be well behind the charging handle and you'll end up needing a very long LOP to get proper eye relief.
