Just wondering if the Remington 750 is any better than the 742,7400 ect. Had a few of the 742 and a 7400 and they were jam-O-matic's. Didnt have any issue with their accuarce just not reliable.

Reason I am wondering is i see the 750 has a 18inch barrel and im looking for a Semi-auto woods gun and shorter is better. I have a 30-30 but it was my dads and i scratched it laying it on the climber while going up the tree so not gonna use it no more.

Was gonna do a AR10 with 16 inch barrel but much more money and still heavy.
want 308 caliber only I think

I had 7400 that never jammed but I would get a browning Bar Short track.

It is the lightest I know of at 6 lbs 10oz in non magnum calibers but they are not cheap. Used one will be hard to come by as they have not been out very long. The older bar models are a good bit heaver as the receiver is all steel.

I was looking at the BAR when i found this model750 new for $700. The BAR is twice as much and so is the AR10. I WANT A WOODS GUN TO SCRACH UP. I have plenty of nice pretty shiny guns.

    I follow you.

How about a used old style bar it seems they weigh the same as the 750 according to the websites.

No but they are on armslist most of the time. I am pretty sure there was one at Mobile Shooting center on consignment. Would call first to see price & caliber. It is not mine.

Mc Coy's had Winchester 100 a while back for 600 but it may be gone. Most of the old guys love the Winchester 100s. It's consider collectable but I know 4 people who hunt with them in 308 variety. They are all in the same family. LOL

    Good luck on your search.
