Thinking of building a 308 ar10 with 7.5in as a truck gun thoughts ?

Beyond , because you want to , Why.
You lose a considerable amount of velocity/efficiency with a barrel that short,and as stated above the blast is a monster. ( I have only fired a 10 1/2 barreled 308 from a C.ontender).
If you have to have a 30 cal semi why not go witha 300 blk out. Much less blast, and a lot cheaper, and more than capable of doing most jobs under yds., critters or goblins.

308 is pretty pointless from anything shorter than 12", you'd probably make as much velocity/energy as 7.62x39 from the same barrel length.

It would be spectacularly loud though, and the flashes would be pretty fun!

Ik not very practical but think it would definitely be cool I also already have most of the parts and a lot of 308 ammo .

In that case go for it! Throw a tank brake on, you'll get flames going 5 feet in both directions lol.

I have been around and shot a 10.5inch
.308 AR10. Was so loud that the entire range knew when you were shooting and too loud to the point it wasn’t allowed in a 2 gun match.
