    Behind enemy lines!
    This isnt likely to have any substantive effect, but what will probably happen is there will either be more FFLs, or there will be shoot outs like the Arkansas airport manager.

    Its all going to turn on the definition of, “engaged in the business of,” and “number of transactions,” which is hyperbole.

    It would eliminate websites just like this one. as the rule changes a dealer from someone who sells a gun with the “principal objective of livelihood and profit” to “predominantly earn a profit.”

    a person would be presumed to have the intent to ‘predominantly earn a profit’ when the person: (1) advertises, markets, or otherwise promotes a firearms business (e.g., advertises or posts firearms for sale, including on any website;

    If these changes pass, just posting a firearm for sale on this site means you're a dealer required to have an FFL and conduct a background check on any buyer.

    Just offering a gun - Not even for money but for a "thing of value"

    I see it as neither one of us wants to come off cash. You have a 600 dollar item and you really want my 500 dollar item so we trade. Instant felon. Idk. I'm probably reaching far out there, but that's what they do.

    Hell, a recent article implied they should just get rid of $100 bills, because:

    "As part of a longstanding campaign to stop printing and even recall existing $100 bills, the New Republic wrote, “Benjamins are the favorite currency of criminals and almost no one else.”

    HAVE YOU BOUGHT GROCERIES LATELY?!? You had BETTER bring some $100 bills! Just wear a face diaper so the checkout cameras can't automatically enter you into some "criminal" database! Unless you're here illegally, of course. Then the cops are not even allowed to question you. And they damned sure better not shoot you. ;)

    So the way I'm reading this 'new rule", if I sell any firearm for $.01 less than I bought it for, I'm not making any money therefore I'm not engaging in “principal objective of livelihood and profit” to “predominantly earn a profit.” Sounds like a plan...

    This is, like every other one of these so-called 'rules' that have the power of law which have been enacted without regard to the Constitution or the legal process, merely another way to stop freedom loving Americans from obtaining the means by which the tyranny of an overreaching government can be defended against.
    It won't stop until it is stopped.

    As soon as all you cowards believe that it's ok for the new rule to go into effect cause your ok with selling an item for 1 penny less than you bought it.... they will then apply that profit rule to everything else in life, cars, fishing gear, silver, gold, etc. And when they do I don't want to hear squat from your lips or keyboard about it. Matter of fact, I think the for sale section needs to not only have a picture of the weapon for sale but also the original sale or transaction receipt. It's the least we can do to show the government that once again it's not the law abiding citizens that are the problem.... we actually like to lick boots 24/7.
