Distract and redirect attention to some scary thing individuals have no control over (i.e. covid scam, global warming, etc..)

While the dumb mass is hooked on a fear cycle you can get away with anything. The percent of folks who will still pay attention can be censored from the public conversation while the news cycle stays parked in the middle of their fear plug.

If it is a chinese balloon they are not just taking pictures with cameras. Why would they? All rocket the sites are visible on google maps. And you can drive right up to them in MT. Seen it myself!

A friend of mine who's 3rd cousins wife was able to get photos of Hunter loitering under the baloon waiting for a cash drop.

If it were a matter of national security we wouldn’t know this story of a balloon. Because it’s propaganda it’s forced fed by state run media. Our reaction to it is the product. Id be more worried about what false flag will come from it or what we are distracted from.

If the geography was reversed, and US “civilian owned” weather balloon veered “off-course” into Chinese airspace, what do you think they’d do?

Allow it to continue to fit over their country?
Or bring it down, maybe mostly intact, and keep it, study it, and give us the diplomatic middle finger. Use it as a bargaining chip. Give it back to us so graciously. Maybe in return for something they want. Meanwhile, they look magnanimous and strong in the eyes of the world.

Yep... problem is, we have no confirmation of what it is and what it's doing unless we inspect it. And we supposedly have or are working on lasers that can destroy hypersonic missiles, but are afraid to take down a weather balloon?!?

We cannot set the precedent that this is acceptable OR "normal"!

I think its launched somewhat locally. Typically weather balloons that are made to travel way up high have a saggy teardrop shape so they can expand and swell up as they enter thinner air above. This one appears to be filled to the max and stretched tight. So you can assume it's made to travel at that height only. Balloons Typically kick off weights or use flames to control thier height also. Height is the only real way to steer these also. They go up or down to get into an airflow in the direction they want to travel to. While true it may have a solar panel or fan to steer with as they are saying, that's just to fart around a little at most. It won't be able to fight a 20mph headwind per say. So with all that said I don't think it really traveled from very far away. Just an opinion based on what I see.
Next, why use a balloon at all when they have satellites? Well there's only 2 things I can think of for that. That's to physically drop something off, or to sniff around. Something that requires it to actually be there physically for. What is it sniffing for? Hard to say. Weather data.. detecting potential chemicals or virus stuff being spread maybe, possibly detecting nuclear silos positions, dropping off infected fleas lol. No telling.
That leads to why they won't shoot it down maybe. Maybe they think there's bio stuff inside? That's really the only answer I can think of tbh. Very weird stuff folks
