Been looking around for one for a while and figured I would get one of the cheap ones they sell on Buds, bit was talking to my dad and said I was interested in getting one, told me he had 2 identical colts and would love to give me one. Picked it up a couple days ago. Can't wait to get it to the range.

Not sure about the grips, but I'll know after I take it to the range if I'll want to get a standard style without the rubber.

Yea I don't really have the greatest relationship with him and just recently started talking to him, he's a military man and always had a ton of guns when we we're kids, said if he knew I was into guns he would of given them all to me but has sold most of the cool ones over the last few years as he doesn't really shoot much amymore.
Oh well I'm content with this one, another friend of mine in the FBI have me 200 rounds for it as well to go practice with. Got hooked up this weekend.

Well maybe you and Pop can get out to the range give those 1911s a work out and work on that relationship.

Thanks guys, he lives in Colorado so can't really go out and shoot whenever but we will for sure next time I see him. Can't wait to shoot it, the trigger has such a light and short pull I already feel more accurate then with my XD haha.

Yea I can't stop looking at new things to buy for it, I need a IWB holster and probably pick up a couple mags, any recommendations for either of the above?
Not sure if I'll carry this or stick to my XD but I'll want a holster never the less

Crossbreed super tuck are great as well as Galco king tuck. Even the galco summer comforts are good, but all are a matter of personal preference. I have always had good luck with Wilson Combat and Chip Mcormick mags.

    What he said.

I understand there are cheaper clones of the Crossbreed Super Tuck but I know nothing about them. It's a lot of gun for IWB but it's quite doable in a Super Tuck.

I have enough Chip McCormick Shooting Star magazines to fill up a couple of pockets and none have given me any issues.

It does feel a little big to carry that way but that's really the only way I feel comfortable to carry, I'll probably just pick up something cheap to try out and if I feel comfortable ill get something nicer.

Foxx holsters are a cheaper clone that works great. I use a Foxx hybrid on my full size 1911 weekly and works very well. The leather is a little thicker than the Crossbreed, but for $39 you can't beat it.

Nothing like a gifted Colt 1911 to restore a relationship. If he was a collector, he held this gun because he loved it. And then he gave it to you.
I think that should tell you something about your dad. Take care of it and enjoy!

WARNING: You will become addicted to the 1911 family. One is never enough. I hated the first one I fired (many years ago), but have since acquired many more than I really need, and absolutely LOVE them all from the 3" Ultra to the compact and full size. Enjoy and good shooting.

I bought my 1st 1911 back in January. It came with a Chip McCormick mag. But I immediately ordered 2 Wilson Combat mags, and a CrossBreed SuperTuck. I love the magazines, the holster came in last week, and I've been carrying the gun around the house to break in the holster. I was surprised how well it conceals considering I'm a pretty skinny guy. I'm sure there's other great holsters out there but the CBST works!!! Just sayin.

Really wanted to go out and shoot it today but ended up having to work most the day then the rain stopped me once I got off.
Any of you guys used the promags from bass pro? Saw a few there for about $25 and thought about trying.one out

You're gonna love it. I've had more pistols than a car trunk would hold and the 1911 .45 has to be my favorite. Now that mine has a Clark bushing and a custom trigger it's firing ping pong ball groups and I'm sleeping with it more than shooting it. I'm hopeless.
