SKS’s for $59. I remember going to the FWB Fairgrounds gun shows and seeing crates of SKS’s for $59 a piece. $69 if it was hand picked. I finally saved up enough money for one and my father bought it for me. It is a Russian and I still own it to this day @35 years later. I wish I had a semi truckload of them right now.

I remember my dad buying a crate of SKS’s in the mid 80,s for I Believe it was $79 apiece. Your $59 Russian SKS is now worth $800. I just bought one, ouch!

A garage-kept ‘69 Firebrid for $2500. Widow of a neighbor offered it to me after her husband passed because she knew I always loved seeing her husband take it out for his Sunday stroll around the lake. I was 17 at the time, and had the cash and was getting ready to go buy it when I made the mistake of telling my dad what I was up to. He told me that I couldn’t buy it because I would probably end up killing myself in it. She ended up giving it to her granddaughter and it was wrapped around a tree 6 months later.

Colt Python 4" barrel in Royal blue for $349 in 1982 Gibsons Department store! Alamogetto, NM.
Same situation fast forward to 1996 while stationed at NAS Millington near Memphis TN. I worked part time at one of the then newer Walmart’s and next store to it was a rather large sports store. They had a stainless 4” Colt Python on sale for $499...I recall going over there a few times on my break and fondling that beauty...missed opportunity. Being too frugal at the time....I settled for a new 4” Taurus .38 for around $209. Still have that Taurus...

In 1974 I was working at Petticoat Junction amusement park in Panama City.
An old retired engineer from Montgomery used to come down occasionally and they would let him drive the train.
He drove a mint 1957 Ford Fairlane with the Continental tire package on the rear bumper. It was a beautiful car.
One day I was talking to him and admiring his car and he said “It can be yours for $1,000”.
I was in college and it might as well had been a million dollars.
