Vid is down. Dang it. Sorry guys. I'm sure it's out there somewhere.
Cop should have tackled him. I mean you shouldnt attack a cop, he got what was coming, but that stick ain't gonna stop me. I'd have tried knocking his block first. Wasn't there, could have been more to it, just going off what I see.

Easy to arm chair quarterback, but cops have to consider things you might not think of. Your solution of tackling the guy is likely one that will could easily end up with you being killed.

EVERY disturbance they respond to is an armed disturbance, and I am not talking about the stick. It is an armed disturbance because the officer is armed, bringing a gun into the picture because they have to be able to respond as needed to end the situation safely as possible.

If the deranged man refuses to stop when taser is attempted (read an article still up with info in it); and hits the officer twice with the stick while still attacking, the officer is trained (and SHOULD) to escalate the force used to stop the incident.

Rule #1 for officers is to arrive safely to a call, and Rule #2 is to go home safely at the end of their shift. Taking risk is part of the job; but choosing between risking to die, or to take a life is an instantaneous decision. This decision made while under stress, duress, or threat of death/great bodily harm; is one that many will judge without the training, background, and experience really necessary to do so.

This right here. I've barrel jabbed a few Iraqis with my M16 because they didn't give us tasers. That was our non lethal and it was highly effective. Shot a few too but that was different. Some people will never understand.

It's ok to kill white people according to the narrorater
This is where I part from the BLM. Black guy gets killed and it does not matter if it was innocent or the worst sort of lowlife there ever was. If he/she/it was black, it was murder. Whites also get killed by the police, most often justified but not always and not a word since it is BLM.

WONDERING - -> were all shots into the torso (COM) ??
    What chambering was used ??
    What bullet was used ??
Gotta say one thing, the cop was slingin' some lead. Lucky the 5shot 38Spec is long gone.
If I were a LEO,in a rural setting, and If I were allowed,I would carry my Glock 20 with my hunting load of 200gr WFNGC (hardcast).
Glad he cop is (?) OK. --- SAWMAN

Lots of pretty cops nowadays, I remember when you had to be a grown man to wear a badge.

This is the reason that I usually reccomend the 148 or 158gr full wadcutter,at non +P vels,to the people that carry the 38Special revo's.
At 750-800fps~ it is a great, multiple quick shots load. ---- SAWMAN

The BG rammed his vehicles into other vehicles, what initiated that: road rage anger, drugs/alcohol or just a psychotic episode/breakdown? The engagement with the Officer was a continuation of that without mental seperation betweent the two. There may well have been another triggering issue before the vehicles crunches: was he fired from work, divorce dropped in his lap, find spouse in motel with someone, other major issues coming to a head? We dont know the initial trigger and snow ball effect involved but we do know mental state can overide non CNS hit physical reactions. Officers trigger work was fast and ultimately got the job done, shot placement trumps volume. I'll also note that there was little time between shots for the "walking dead" body to respond to those hits on top of the adrenaline, endorphins and mental state motivation(s). If we recall sound information on handgun "One Shot Stops", that are not CNS hits; we know the "recipients mindset" plays the large role in their effectiveness. We don't hesitate between shots to measure effectiveness, "we must mentally register" the totality of shot results until "stop" is achieved AND then we turn off our response. Shots that "continue" after initial signs of collapse are often the result of this mental delay. It is not excessive force. It is fortunate the BG wasn't firing a gun during the delay to incompaitation.

This is not a good reference for a case study of 9 vs 357Sig vs 40 vs 10 vs 45. We can assume with confidence that the LEO's cartridge type (regardless of caliber) was highly rated. I can't draw caliber vs caliber conclusions as shot #1, 3, 7 or 10 could have been fatal given time for mental and physical reaction. Would a slight difference in expansion or velocity have been "more" incapacitating in the exact same hit locations given the short time span from first shot to last? I don't think so. We shoot until the threat stops. More capacity has always been better than less, when that is the only consideration. If our capacity has been expend we do survival things: block, strike, use knife, egress, use barriers, reload and so on. If BG crumples/stopped anywhere during the procsss you win. Life is rarely like TV. IMHO/YMMV
