During WWII hand grenades were used to dispel doubt. But then one could do this lol.As with any of this stuff, either in the military or the civilian community, the element of TOTAL surprise is the key. But sometimes just as important is to set indicators in place that will quickly let you know if the surprise has been lost. To fork this up is SERIOUS !!
To know there will be a surprise party and not show that you know is a total advantage. It is hard, but can be done. A great example of this in the military is called a "false extract". Don't know if this is done anymore but it usually works great if you stay ahead of the "word of mouth". --- SAWMAN
It is said to have been a rifle. When the FBI battered down the door they were said to have been fired at by a rifle. 2 dead and 3 wounded. Some 5.56 can penetrate level 3 armor. Not knowing what happened, I predict 1) a semiautomatic rifle or magnum revolver that defeated the FBI's soft armor was the perpetrators firearm 2) he got the good guys from inside the building and probably thru a window or door's preplanned killzone 3) guarantee it was at some sort of choke point like a hallway or walled courtyard sidewalk and those officers were bunched up with nowhere to go for cover and finally 4) the perpetrator was already a felon and wasn't supposed to have guns and the officers made a fatal assumption that there weren't any firearm threats and allowed themselves to underestimate the perpetrator
That is what the FBI said.Bad guy offed himself
