I believe the overall length has to be 26+inches for a shotgun and if it came with a stock you can't put a pistol grip on it
Your best bet is to call the ATF and ask
I don't know for sure that is why I said call ATF

    Yes sir.
The bbls have to be 18 inches.
Admittedly I was being a little facetious. I have never seen a O/U or a SXS that had a pistol grip.
Actually I have. At Mike's they have a SXS with pistol grip. Kinda like the Kel Tec KSG only with twin bbls. Forgot about that one. --- SAWMAN

Better off with a 9mm DA/SA. MUCH less recoil, and more controllable, easier to aim. Also no controls to fiddle with once loaded. Just pull the trigger.

As far as what you're looking for, I've never seen such a thing.

    Mike's has several different SXS guns that are ummmmmmm . . . "tactical ". All black,short(er) bbls,pic rails,etc.
I say,buy and older shotgun that functions perfect. Looks don't matter. 2 3/4 chamber is ok. Have someone chop the bbl to 18.5". This will make it cyl bore . . . GREAT !! Have the LOP shortened as necessary. Probably 12.0 or 12.5 inches should do. Either 12 or 20ga will do. If 12 use a lighter dove/quail/squirrel type load.
Have her practice loading, unloading, firing, and general marksmanship. Remember,a shotgun will not just automatically hit anything that it is pointed at. You actually gotta aim.
