On Friday the Texas House of Representatives voted 96-35 to allow residents with concealed-handgun licenses so that they could openly carry their guns in public but being kept in holsters. A similiar open-carry measure was passed by the Texas Senate the past month. These two open-carry bills will be squared before being sent to the Republican Gov. Greg Abbott who has already indicated his support for the two bills. So it is quite evident that the bills be approved.

We are seeing historic progress in Texas

So please help me for i feel I missed something... One needs a concealed carry permit to open carry, is what they propose?

I read it three time and that's how it sounds to me.
Ok I need some more help.... Can someone help me see the logic in requiring a ccw permit for open carry?
    Anyways, good for them.

yes you must have the training, the class and the range time in Texas for a concealed carry, then you can choose open or concealed...I know not perfect but with the lack of training in some states this might be a good thing?

That's awesome. Hopefully Florida will follow suit.

florida had open carry...the repubs bargained it away with the dems, for ccw.....

if fl passes this, it should be without the "licience" stipulation...

2nd amendment gives one all the rights, unrestricted....
