So.. I watched a YouTube video recently with Chris Costa that did a tactical lever action course focusing on HD.
Any of you folks have some sort of setup?
It really peaked my interest, and trying to determine what would be the ideal caliber.

There used to be a video of Gabe Suarez running a lever action rifle against semi auto rifles on a course . He did very well . Capacity was an issue , but being able to top off on the run and putting hits on target was easily do able . He worked within the confines of his weapon .

One of the MACV-SOG ( 5th Special Forces) operators ,Jerry “Mad Dog”Shriver ( Born in DeFuniak Springs ) bought a Marlin .444 and had it shipped to Vietnam . It doesn’t say if he carried it on ops , but he was a special breed of warrior within the Spec Ops community . Highly regarded today even . If you don’t know his story , look him up . Incredible bravery . Maybe some of our experienced forum members on here may have served with him in Vietnam or knew him . Maybe SAWMAN or others .

I have a lever gun in 22lr, super tactical against rats and other varmin. I had looked into the 30-30 for a viable use, even suppressed, the 300blk was just a better option for me.

12/20 gauge shotguns in most any configuration. While you're carrying that lever add a six shot Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Caliber as your handgun of choice. The bad guys won't stand a chance. ETA: I have an original Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt, but when the chips are down I'll reach for my Glock 19 or 20 thank you very much. 19th century technology will not be protecting this 21st century house.

Lever actions were the first assault weapons in my opinion .
Used to be a sticker to that effect with a lever gun outline. Now all I can find is a Revolutionary musket. I'd imagine somebody got woke re Native American feelings on the lever gun as AR. Can't really say as I blame them much. If they had gotten lever guns a bit earlier and there had been a few more of them, a lot in this country mighta turned out different.

The 30-30 AI is the ultimate for that chambering--one of Ackley's better successes, performance wise. For sure a handload only proposition though.

There's always the .35 Rem if you handload. Heaves a nice hunk of lead at a moderate speed.

Kinda meh on the BO myself. Fits in an AR (yawn) and fairly easy to get a subsonic load, if you care to suppress. It doesn't really tickle any bells for me.

35 rem is a great cartridge but would probably annihilate multiple walls of sheetrock. We're speaking in terms of HD. I could be wrong though...

Not as many as a .45-70, but it's certainly not going to be stopped by a little bit of drywall.
