I have always been kind of a minimalist when it comes to lubing my hand guns after cleaning. I just got my CZ back from Cajun and it was drenched in oil. So my question is how much is the right amount and what are people using?

I used to use a light coating of Ballistol or CLP on everything. These days I use Cudalube (because I got some for free) and any surface where metal touches metal. I mainly only lube the slide rails on my CZ. I lube the barrel, recoil spring, and slide rails on my open gun and keep it pretty wet.

My go to is primarily CLP, although I've had good luck with Froglube. I'm a minimalist as well, especially with my striker fire pistols. The Froglube is pretty cool but the process is a little more involved than other lubes out there.

Mobile 1 for this cheap capitalist pig. The quart I have will most likely last me the rest of my life.

Lube is lube. If the industry has proven anything over the last few years it's that you can use whatever you want, coconut, canola, motor, it doesn't really matter as long as there's something to reduce the coefficient of friction and as long as it's not so thick that it will slow down the action, which is caliber and weather dependent (ask me how I know). Periodically clean and reapply to remove the collected grime, and you're good to go.
Having said that, personally, I like WC's ultima-lube II but I've used just about everything out there at one point or another. Stay away from grease unless it's a 40 or 45, other than that, it doesn't really seem to matter at all. It's all marketing.

I use tenw thirty motor oil for guns, and a honing oil to sharpen blade, then coat a thin Vaseline coating on the blades, with oil in the joints., and coconut oil Vaseline on the wood stocks and handles, and on leather, the stuff the black folks use on their hair you know....

I've been using the Lucas Oil Gun Oil (Red) or the Duty Gun Oil (Blue). I like it because it doesn't evaporate as fast as CLP or RemOil.

Always lube where metal meets metal. For 1911's or all metal guns the most common problem I see is that they are not lubed enough or the lube used has evaporated.

Your users manual should list the basic type lube(s) they recommend, locations to apply and how much. If the gun Mfg also makes lube they will state the to use their brand or list something they endorse. Its important to keep in mind that lube has two jobs: reduce friction/wear and protect from corrosion. The key is to clean and refresh whatever you choose to use. There are some good vids on YT with different lubes applied to metal and exposed to the elements. Other vids do extreme friction tests which are cool to watch but I don't have XX weight sitting on my bolt/slide and the receiver/frame is not moving equal to XXXXXX RPM. If we look at this issue realistically: If you don't burn out your barrels shooting, your not going to wear out the mechinical functioning parts when they are appropriately lubed with a "good enough" oil/grease (again: clean and refresh ludricants). There is high tech lube that may be worth the time and money to those that want/need it.

I like Breakfree CLP but anybody else have trouble getting all of it out of the can? The valve always seems to clog up well before the can is empty.

Hey, Friend... when that happens and I'm out of options, I put a hole in the can and drip it out onto the firearm. This has happened more than once to me.

Mobil 1 is OK. SLP2000 is good, Rem Oil works. I also use WD40 SPECIALIST, note I
said SPECIALIST NOT the fish oil, so don't go full metal retard on me.

As to how much, I apply it with toothpicks and Q-tips. 4 drops for the whole pistol
    can be too much.
