So finally have a little bit of money set aside and knowing I can't afford the real deal. Anything I should look for, pass on etc in regards to picking up an mp5 clone?

I had the PTR w/ brace. Very nice, but a G17 with fun stick does it better and lighter, smaller. They are way heavy. Unless your going to spring for the Sbr and full auto. Most good mags are $50 each. I know I'm no fun. Dang reality crap. If just gotta have one get an MCK and stick the glock in it.

I got a Century Arms AP5 package deal ($1.2k) around black Friday. It's shot well suppressed and unsuppressed with 115-147 gr and no issues. Accurate, soft shooting and a cool gun that I hope to pass down to one of my kids.

+1 on the AP5. If you do get one, check the ejection when you shoot it. My ejector lever was slightly out of spec and it led to FTEs. I replaced it with an HK lever and it's been flawless ever since.

Different asthetic and also just not a fan of the mcx.

I have a PTR and love it but you can get an ap5 for around a grand second hand. PSA is still hooding onto theirs. If it ever comes out it may be the best bang for the buck.

I've seen the ap5s on gunbroker and they look pretty good

I'll keep an eye out for a good deal. From what I've read, you buy an ap5 and toss in an hk extractor in it and you're good to go. They were only a grand shipped on black Friday. 899 for the base model but no threaded barrel.

I can't guarantee the discipline to wait for black Friday lmfao

Zenith ZF-5 is the best of the clones... almost as much as HK tho... the PSA ones run good and price is like 500 less than the ZF-5.

    Enjoy an ice cold Pensa-Cola!
The Century/MKE AP5 and AP5-P have been phenomenal for the money…built in Turkey on HK tooling. Hard to justify the 3k price for the actual HKs unless you just have to have the brand. Not knocking those that do, I get it. But man…for a third of the price, well worth it.
Literally came here to say this. I absolutely love mine.

    It's all good.

So what I ordered (tech comes brace and pistol separate due to reasons)
But I'm actually excited for it to come in.
Gotta post an update after some use. Love the HK slap!
