Have any of you made or know someone who has made a good knife from scratch like those guys from " Hillbilly Blood" ? I would like to try and want to know what it takes to get the heat required.

my brother in law made a couple from rail road ties. He just used a propane torch. Was able to flatten the blade and twist the tie to make a handle. Used his bench grinder to sharpen the blade, then finished with polishing stones. Pretty cool. I'm sure it'll rust up like a son of a.... Could use the "hammertone" paint and help protect it a little bit.

There are plenty of you tube videos on how to. A good one was the man who made a bowie from a leaf spring off a jeep, with no power tools at all. It turned out great.I actually bought one like it from a old smith at the flea market one time, it was a formidable knife, and super cool. I am sure if you googled , how to make a knife from a leaf spring, it would come up.

Not trying to be smart, but railroad ties are made of wood! I'm sure you meant spikes?

I read somewhere to use old circular saw blades. Cut them out and use paracord to make a handle. They used old Nintendo game sleeves for the sheath and wore it around your neck.

If you know anyone that does concrete work a 14" diamond blade makes fantastic knife material. They throw them away when the tips wear down.
