Had ribs yesterday, first time in a long long time as the wife reminds me. ..and I blame this post! LOL

Got out baby clothes shopping today for the newest grand daughter, and just got tired of the rain! Decided a Cajun style shrimp boil would help clear the sinuses and cheer us up!

Corn and potatoes start the party.

    Sausage at the ready!

Mushrooms, two kinds (the green pepper are for another dish).

    Next to last ingredient.

    Finished product!

Had a desire for something different. Sub-conscious must have been on the case as I had grilled some breakfast steaks this morning and threw some new brats on just on a whim. As I was pondering on what I felt like eating, I spotted the pot of kimchee soup the wife had on the stove

and it sparked my desire.....for some German style fare! LOL

New potatoes on the boil with sea salt, black peppercorns, and a cap full of apple cider vinegar.

Grilled brats in pan with sauerkraut

The result with a side dish of spicy brown mustard and a glass of wine! With a bowl of the kimchee soup. yum yum

Sean, look in the refrigerated section or ask; this kraut comes refrigerated in a glass jar, and is not on the regular store shelves.

Thanks Ray, sending my wife on a Sauerkraut mission this afternoon.! LOL Seriously, We tried Vlasic and a few others. believe it or not out of the one's I tried so far Food Club (store brand) tasted the best so far. I'll pass this on to her. I like it on a lot of things.

Food Club, not familiar with that one; but if a Food World brand it may be a good time to find a new kraut with all the store closures they are going through.

MsChief, try the Claussen....the Commissary carries it. It reminds me of the homemade kraut the grandmothers in Cullman County used to serve, and they learned from the original immigrants from Germany.

Dinner tonight is my Dad's Famous Pepper Steak with Rice. It's damn good and easy to make.. My Dad believed in good and easy to make so he could continue to drink while cooking. And it still works!!!

I only have one frying pan and a 2 burner electric stove here at the hotel. Extended Stay America. But I try to keep some home cooking values instead of using the microwave all the time.. My version of Grilled chicken tacos..
