Grew up hunting and eating them
We would quarter them and then fry. My brother Mike and I would take a mess of squirrels to our Granny’s where she would cook us a breakfast of grits, eggs and squirrels with fresh baked biscuits. Those were the days, lost my brother summer 1975 and Granny spring of 1989
If you really want a tastey squirrell you need to remove the musk glands,there are 4 glands located under the front arms an in the bend of the rear legs.Take the point of your knife slice under the arm you will see a white gland remove with your knive point,on the rear legs it will be found in the bend of the leg hold the leg straight take the point of your knive cut into the white looking place on the bend you will find another musk gland.I have eaten squirrels for over 70yrs.
Squirrel is by far my favorite breakfast food. Squirrel, cheese grits, over easy eggs, and biscuits is where it's at. Squirrel and dumplings is really good too!
Alright, see if I can post this right this time. This video of a guy skinning a deer a new way is pretty cool, keeps the hair off the meat and looks easier then the standard way I've been doing it. I'm all about improving the way I do things and skinning and gutting a deer faster with less hair on the meat is always a goal of mine!
