    Is this the same FN49 I saw at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium show this year? That was a fine example

    All FN49 models except one use a 10 round nondetachable mag with strippers. The one exception is the Argentine Navy model FN49, which uses a proprietary 20 round detachable mag. Imagine an overgrown higher quality higher power SKS. The Egyptian FN49 is arguably the finest semiauto 8mm Mauser ever made. Other FN49 were available in 30-06, 7.62 NATO, 7mm Mauser. I've owned one of each. The Egyptian was the best condition firing the biggest bullet. Detachable mag service rifles like the M14, FAL, CETME and AK doomed the high quality FN49 as a service rifle. Also everybody that shunned Russia got free American WW2 rifles, so why buy an FN49
