How many of you guys have AMD-65s? IMO these are one of the best AK variants out there for the money. I even kept mine over an Arsenal I had. I removed the VFG from mine and put a Magpul AFG and last night I bent and welded up a cheek riser for it.

Let me know what you guys think.

I have one, love it. Sold an older Yugo, bought it cheap and put the rest of the cash into drums, mags and pouches. Mine is still stock. I want to put the riser on but I like the grips as they are. I may put a UTG rail up front for a micro dot but I really don't want the extra weight.

Thanks, it's just krylon. It looks different now with wood handguards and some other changes.

Mine is still bone stock as well with the plastic grey grips. I will say that these are "oddly accurate" for an AK with a 12.5 inch barrel. With a full 75rd rommy drum I think its only a few ounces heavier than the full stock Polish AKM I had before. The foregrip takes a little getting used to. My understanding is that either the UTG or Midwest Ind. rail adds little if any weight forward and the Primary arms micro is just a few ounces. I want to add a riser to my stock but I will probably use the AMD-65 tech bolt on job as I don't trust myself not to bugger up the thin wire frame. I'll wrap with leather or para cord because that steel is cold on the cheek.
