Got a guy I work with wanting to buy some 375 Winchester. He inherited a gun chambered in it from his Dad and he wants to do a little shooting with it.
Sorry Bob,didn't take a closer look at it.
Most likely about $18.00 a box. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . That would be for a box of 10rds. --- SAWMAN
You should also advise your friend to save his brass. It is highly tradeable and/or sellable.
There are at least two people on this forum that shoot the 375Win. They might jump in with some advice. --- SAWMAN
Handloading is here and now for the .375 Win. I haven't seen ammo for it for years. Sawman, do you remember the manufacturer? I've been loading mine for many years. I used the now discontinued hornady 220 sp. I think Sierra still makes a 200 sp but that's it for major makers. Magnus makes quality cast bullets and I think that's the future for those of us who still want to shoot them. There is good info on Castboolits.com on the .375.
I thought I had some , but wanted to make sure . The price stickers say $41.95 , I found 3 boxes 2 full and 1 with 17 rounds . $2 a round is pretty pricey I guess that's why I don't have more.
I have one of these rifles as well and have never shot it. Mostly due to lack of ammo. Is it possible to rebarrel to a more common caliber? If so what would be your pick considering its a lever gun?
The .375 is pretty much a .30-30 case blowed out, rim diameter is the same. If it were me, I'd do 7-30 Waters. But if you're not a hand loader same issues with ammo. That goes with most every case based on the .30-30 that's not a .30-30! .356 Win and .307 Win were other calibers in the BB after the .375.
FLT, those old school boxes brought back memories of when I got my BB in '82!
If you folks with guns and no ammo are a trusting sort.........get some brass, Sierra 200's, Reloader 7, and LR primers and I'll put some together for you. Fo' free. PM.
The 375Win is "kinda" like a 30-30Win blown out to almost streight walled. With one major difference that is internal. Much thicker web at the base. Can quite easily handle higher pressures. Consequently more power produced by the 375Win. Cuts a bigger hole going in also. Mo-bedda kill'ability.
If I resize 375Win brass down to 30-30AI,I can get another 200 - 225fps over a standard loaded 30-30. Using 30-30 brass I can only get about 150fps. The 375's much thicker web will allow it to be loaded to a higher pressure. Most likely not for a lever gun unless it is a 92 action, but great for my wifes single shot. ---- SAWMAN
Bob
I had a dyslexic moment and bought a box of 375 vs 357 a while back and I think it is still in the closet. Its free to a good home. If you want it, shoot me a PM and we can make arrangements to meet up
BTW it was $50 per box of 20 (or somewhere close) He thought they told him $40 a box and sent enough cash for 3 boxes (or so he thought) but only ended up with 2.
