The moment he uncovered a firearm in a public place, on purpose, and he wasn't defending someone else, there should've been an armed response from the populace. Unfortunately, this was yet another gun-free zone, so he proceeded, UNfettered for what was probably at least THREE reloads. He was shooting so long that the police arrived and setup a perimeter and he took hostages.

Get rid of gun-free zones. Even the odds a little without spending a penny. Let the honorable have access to more of the unprotected. Let the cowards gamble on how many of their targets are defenseless. Let the headlines change to "attack thwarted" or "attempted shooting"... See how loyal to their beliefs these cowards really are. That's just step one...

Been channel surfing some of the networks to compare the coverage. Predictably the usual subjects are focusing on... their terminology... the military assault weapon/rifle (a memo must have went out to preface it with military now). And I've heard several different discussions about the shooter being able to shoot so many people because he had a 'military assault weapon/rifle'.

But since first contact was reported around 2AM and the SWAT team supposedly went in at 5AM, I've only heard it suggested once that maybe he was able to shoot so many people because he had 3 hours to do so.
