Great time short lived, but fun. Was given a chance to shoot some of dan1612's tank busters/ thumb takes. Wow an wow. Took video have to figure the upload thing out.
SORRY Got my ASS handed to me in a big way. Got to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE . There will be a rematch. Dan isn't such a nice guy after all. He didn't show me
any mercy even though I was shooting with my left eye and am right handed. Oh well.
I really don't think the cheap aginst the HIGH DOLLAR guns was setteled though. He shot my lets say lower priced Springfield as good as he did his high dollar gun. Ask me if I wanted him to measure the two groups with the calapers. Thats how good he shot both of them. 4 shots in 1 hole with a flyer touching.
Dan any fte with the Springfield? Combat wilson did WHAT? LOL
It was worth the money I lost to spend time with the GCGF members that could make it . Dan did spend some of his WINNINGS letting me shoot those cannons he brought and thank you so much.
Looking forward to another meet up with GCGF members.
Got an early Dr appointment in the morning so I will just Hang My Head untill tomorrow....Again,Had a great time.
Well, I took SnowBird's lunch money, shot Champ's excellent Kimber, Snowbirds Souped up Springfield, my Delta Elite and DaBreeze's very nice 9mm. I shot my fifties, including full house rounds out of the 4". I shot my reloads, which actually worked WHOO HOO!
Tried out my SlideFire lower, which is AWESOME.
All in all a great day in even better company. Thank you gentlemen.
I would hardly call a Cylinder & Slide tuned Springfield a cheap gun. I could have sworn he was bringing a Taurus. The Springfield is a great gun indeed.
The groups were close between the 2 guns when shot by a given shooter, but the Wilson edged ahead, as it should.
I did push the slide lock up during one of my strings, operator error. I blame El Capitan for my thumb placement habit. Gotta fix that.
In conclusion, does a Cylinder & Slide tuned Springfield Armory shoot as well as a Wilson Combat? No, but it's close. Just doesn't look nearly as good doing it, or have the warranty and customer service. So, you want a Cylinder and Slide tuned gun? Good luck, their wait time on upgrades is even longer than Wilson Combat.
I'm up for a rematch. Snowbird's lunch money helps pay for my big bore habit.
Wilson Combat are put together by Craftsmen. I will give that your thum Might have went up but the gun still had to be turned over to get rid of the empty case.
Don't know about there warranty service as I haven't had to send mine back. 15000 rounds and no problems. Now I will MAYBE say yours looked nicer than my Springfield. My grips are that ugly rubber.
I have been known to be seen with some plane jane things before.
It was fun to see what a high dollar gun was like to shoot. Wish you had used those calapers though.LOL...Good night.
I pulled my target on my way out, my group with the Wilson, center to center measured about 2 fingers wide, my group with your springfield measured about 3 fingers wide.
This is, of course, at 7 yards.
SnowBird did shoot a better group with my Wilson than with his Springfield.
And here I was thinking this was settled. Lol, silly me.
All I can say is this, I trust and carry my Wilson, I love it and will never sell it.
I am a Springfield fan, and SnowBird's tuned Springfield is a fantastic gun, and one that I would be proud to own, I cannot give higher praise than that.
Dan of course you would have to pull a shot with my Spring Field to make your HIGH DOLLAR gun look better.Really LOL
I'm up for some comp again as Like I said before I love to compeat and watching good shooters.Cost less than a round of Golf
My point from the start was that you didn't have to spend High dollar amounts to have a gun that is a good shooter and have some close tollerances. You compared mine to one that will remain unnamed.and mine did win that contest by a mile.
One thing I did enjoy to the max was watching you shoot mine like I used to shoot it. There is nothing more flusterating than knowing that the gun you are shooting will do much better than you are shooting it on that day And to know that you wouldn't mind owning it. For you to say that says alot about the gun.
I was just glad I didn't have that squib or that heavy charge in one of my reloads that everyone says is comming. Dillon came through again.
We had fun and the debate will go on forever about price but now you saw where I was comming from
^ Absolutely, but your Springfield is pre-MIM series 70 style and tuned by some of the best in the business. Not exactly cheap or shabby and it shot just as it should. Nothing like a solid old workhorse like that. Very very nice indeed.
What Dan is talking about is the company that did the trigger job on mine. Got lucky to have them do it. I said on here somewhere that I might have gotten one of the good ones and It is old. Bought it in Mar of 1990. I don't have any idea how they are put together now .
When I bought mine I think the parts were made in Brazil or somewhere and put together here. AND maybe it was put together on Tuesday Wednesday or Thurs instead of Mon or Fri. Do make a diffrence.
Champ, Thanks for the vids.. On the way over there I kept telling myself I wouldn't shoot those cannons. Boy am I glad I did even if it was with reduced loads. Can't tell by the vids but I was hanging on like someone had thrown me a rope while I was drowning.
