Well I don't actually believe I'll be using this as a competition gun. But I really enjoy working on and customizing my guns.
I've been watching videos on people doing this, but honestly most are cringe worthy, even some that were "professionally" done. Last night at work I chucked this up in the mill and made a couple of initial cuts then proceeded to hand file for a few hours. I wanted to keep it minimal, I like what I've achieved, but I think I'm going to go further forward just a tad, or bevel it inside? I'm waiting on a Jerry Miculek lifter so I can test it out before proceeding. Not a fan of the polished aluminum, gonna try BC aluminum black, if that doesn't give me satisfaction I'll do something else. Thoughts?

Looks nice! Are you going to reblue the steel at some point?
    Thanks!
Mossberg= aluminum, I will black it out, somehow. I still have a few file marks to rub out, but if I go further I'll have to sand more anyway.

Your attempt looks better than I've seen on U-Tube. Brownell's sells what they call Aluma-Hyde. This product has their name on it. I never used it so I can say if it will work for your application. However, they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee on anything they sell and you can talk to their tech department for free advise.

I have a can that I waited months for. I've been on the notification list for their clean out nozzles, I've been notified twice, immediately went to order them only for them to be shown as out of stock?? I've never used it either, but the reccuring warnings are how bad the cans clog without those nozzles.

Well I like it a lot! Even the aluminum black. I think I can use a heat gun to even out the color where I sanded the handguard. I have a Noveske QD flush cup for the buttstock, a red dot & flashlight. Just waiting on a tungsten weight before I screw the pad back on and I'll call her done. I'll post 100% pics ASAP!

That looks great. Can you tell a difference when loading? Is it worth doing again
To be honest I haven't loaded it, it's all back in pieces as of this evening. It feels great and the custom elevator makes it even better. I just bought this last month and 1st thing I did was a complete disassembly, so I don't have any before & after experience to compare. I think the way the for end hangs down on these is the biggest hindrance in trying to speed load, I have way more time in that mod than the loading port. I've got to do one good final cleaning and lubrication and I'll have it back together so I can test load and fire.

Well almost, apparently you can over tighten the Noveske QD flush cups, waiting on another. And I need to dig out some Velcro for my light switch. But I present for your viewing pleasure; I shall name her "Bama Slamma" As far as reloading it's a definite improvement, however if it were to be a competition gun I think I'd go further back. I'm from the conservative school of thought, where you can always take more away easier than putting material back.
