This is a really interesting rifle. The 1860 Enfield was a cap and ball rifle from the Civil War era. As the firearms industry was transitioning to metallic cartridges - many of these rifles were converted to take the Snider cartridge. It is .577 (aka .58 cal) caliber.
The metal shows a typical patina and the wood shows a finish and condition that you would expect from a 150+ year old rifle. No cracks or repairs to the stock. The best part - the bore on this rifle is excellent...something I was pleasantly surprised to see.
Included is the period correct "spike" bayonet. Ammunition is actually still available but I think this old rifle would be best hanging on the wall of a den or man cave - rather than trying to shoot.
Asking $950 - will post pics soon.
