    Yeah. I have a model 12 problem.
I cannot find a nice 20 gauge with a rib at a reasonable price. LOL

Things to look for when buying a Winchester Model 12 with a ventilated rib.... look inside the end of the barrel and see if there's a plug hole where the site used to be. If you see this the barrel left the factory a plane barrel and sometime during its lifetime the rib with added. Most aftermarket ribs will have the manufacturer's name on the side. Winchester Factory ribs will have offset proof marks on the barrel and the receiver. A Simmons ribbed Model 12 is just as good as a Winchester Factory rib just don't pay collector price for it . 20220204_090335.jpg20220204_090559.jpg20220204_090607.jpg

    Try getting a .410!

But I'd like to dig my uncle up for selling my grandma's 20.

I have actually found several 42s ,two of them were at the last Robertsdale show. One of them was great the other was more than well used . The well used one was way way over priced. I found another one up in Birmingham for $1750.00 . They demand a price so do the 20 guage 12s. Here is a picture of mine, all original made in 1959.

I recently inherited a Model 12 that I am going to pick up from my mom's this weekend. I would like any input as to what I actually have. I will post pics this weekend. It has the 'flaming bomb' receiver and I have the correct SN barrel but it has been modified in the past with the heatshield removed and a polychoke added. He was a gunsmith and also aquired a cpl other barrel assys one of which is installed but there is no telling what my dad had in mind. Maybe yall can provide some insight once I get some pics.
