I just got an email from Midway USA that Winchester large pistol primers have been discontinued and will no longer be available. What the heck? Is this the next government conspiracy to do away with reloading?

That’s odd. So who does that leave making them?
I’ve been waiting for them to become available so I can try out the 44 mag Lee Loader I bought.

I don't know if it's just Midway or if it's Winchester. I like the Winchester LPP because they can be used in Magnum or Standard loads, thus not having to buy separate primers for 45ACP, 41 Mag and 44 Mag.

I got several notifications from midway for discontinued primers. They were all notifications that I had set for 5000qty. Looks like Midway will only offer by the 1000

I received emails from Midway saying several brands/sizes/types of primers have been discontinued...Winchester, CCI, Remington, but only packs of 5000 were mentioned.

That must be a MidWayUSA policy to break the box up into 1K. I doubt they package them differently than 5 to a case.

They are making a lot of changes there...mainly price hikes.

better grab those ar mags too. I had some S&W 22-15 mags on order, got cancelled this week. Plinker has discontinued their 35 round mag. S&W - try finding a 25 round - only 10 rounds can be found..... last supplier said 4 to 6 months for a 25 round mag (and they are a S&W platinum dealer) once you order and pay for them.

Funny how you can find Ruger 22 mags all over though.

AR mags (30rounders) will soon be like a SPP - good luck finding them....

Gulf Coast Guns in Milton had some a few weeks ago...not sure if they’re still there, give them a call. Hurlburt Field BX was loaded down with all types of magazines.

Magazines are quite available on line. Could change in an instant if an antigun bill manages to be seriously considered in the Senate.
So for now it is ammo and components like primers that are most sought after.

NOTE 1: According to Speer/CCI Technical Services - Both the CCI 550 Small Pistol Magnum and CCI 400 Small Rifle primers are identical in size. Both primers use the same cup metal and share the same cup thickness. Both primers use the same primer compound formula and same amount of primer compound. They can be used interchangeably.
