I have a Winchester Pigeon Grade 101 lightweight 28 gauge. It has 27.5” barrels with forged chokes. How do I determine what the choke sizes are. I’ve looked the barrels over and didn’t find anything that indicated the choke.

The serial number does end in “E” . Does anyone know what that indicates.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If it has removable chokes, Winchester labels them, but being that gauge I'm not sure.
All of their 12 and 20 will say IMP, MOD, etc. They also have dots to determine. All my experience is with larger bores. Excuse me if the 28 doesn't apply the same.

When I get back to the farm I’ll pickup my mics. I’ll look up a 28 gauge choke chart.

These are the only marks on the barrels. I does have 28 23/4 .
It does have “Winchester Proof Steel” stamped on the bottom of the barrels.

    Thanks for your help.

On my Japan model 101 "Field" grade with 30 inch barrels on the left side of the removed barrels just in front of the jeweled ejector mechanism the top barrel is marked "FULL" the bottom barrel is marked "MOD". FYI A USA dime can not enter a 12 gauge full barrel. It will position at the entrance of the barrel.

In your proof photo the top barrel has a + in the circle below the "W". The bottom has a - below the "W". That may mean something however subtle it appears.
